YouTube TV Strikes New Agreement to Preserve Paramount Content

After facing the possibility of losing Paramount content, YouTube TV subscribers can now breathe a sigh of relief as the companies have reached a deal to maintain channel availability.

The agreement includes an expanded streaming relationship, with Paramount+ With Showtime and BET+ continuing as add-ons through YouTube Primetime Channels. Additionally, Google has secured the right to offer Paramount+ to qualifying YouTube TV customers.

Google and Paramount had been embroiled in a high-profile contract dispute that threatened to disrupt service for YouTube TV subscribers. YouTube TV, known for previous disputes with media giants like Disney, expressed its commitment to protecting subscriber interests.

Paramount executives had criticized Google’s unwillingness to accept reasonable terms, emphasizing their company’s significant contribution to the TV viewing landscape.

The deal averts the February 13th deadline that would have removed Paramount content from YouTube TV. Google had fought for an agreement that balanced cost and flexibility for subscribers, while Paramount maintained its stance as a leading content provider.
