“Waymo Integrates Charitable ‘Tipping’ Feature in Its Robotaxi App”

Waymo, a self-driving car firm owned by Alphabet, might be piloting an in-app ‘tipping’ feature. This unique twist allows passengers to donate a “tip” to a charity of their choice post-ride.

This innovative feature was discovered by security researcher Jane Manchun Wong. Wong unearthed the feature while dissecting Waymo’s Android app’s code, as shared on a tech post.

Once users click on the “add a ‘tip’” button, a dropdown menu emerges prompting them to select their preferred charity.

Despite the intriguing discovery, Waymo’s representative refrained from commenting on this unreleased feature, observing their policy on internal innovation processes. They stated, “We explore unreleased features as part of our internal innovation process, and do not comment on them.”

This is subject to further updates when new information on Waymo’s unique tipping feature becomes available.
