Trump’s Executive Order Delays TikTok Ban by 75 Days

U.S. President Donald Trump reinforced his efforts to keep TikTok alive in the U.S. with a recent executive order. This move urges key government bodies to find a solution ensuring national security whilst maintaining the popular app’s active status. This order specifically hinders the enforcement of the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act (PAFACA) for 75 days.

During this period, the Department of Justice is restricted from enforcing the Act or imposing penalties on entities that failed to comply with the Act. Furthermore, the executive order declares that even after the specified period, no action shall be taken to enforce the Act.

This surprising manoeuvre follows a U.S. Supreme Court verdict upholding PAFACA, a law initially endorsed by both parties during previous President Joe Biden’s tenure.
