Google introduces a convenient update for iOS users, enabling them to search what they see on their screens with a simple gesture. Similar to Android’s “Circle to Search” feature, users can now search images, highlight text, or tap on objects through Google Lens.
For instance, you can effortlessly learn more about an intriguing artwork by circling it within an article or identify similar products by circling an item in a video. This feature eliminates the need for screenshots or opening new tabs, facilitating seamless searches.
After highlighting or tapping, users will see visual matches and related results. They can refine their search by adding specifications like color or brand or ask follow-up questions to gather more information.
To access the feature in the Google Chrome or Google app, tap the three-dot menu and select “Search Screen with Google Lens.” Soon, the feature will be accessible via a Lens icon in the address bar.
Additionally, Google expands its AI Overviews to more Google Lens search results. These overviews provide a snapshot of information at the top of search results, allowing users to quickly understand what they’re looking at.
This update is currently rolling out in English-speaking countries where AI Overviews are supported, starting with the Google app for Android and iOS. It will soon extend to Chrome on desktop and mobile devices.
