Safe Superintelligence, an AI startup founded by former OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, is reportedly in advanced negotiations to secure a $1 billion investment. This investment would bring the company’s valuation to a substantial $30 billion.
The funding round is led by renowned venture capital firm Greenoaks Capital Partners, which has pledged a significant $500 million contribution. If the terms remain unchanged, Safe Superintelligence will have raised a total of approximately $2 billion.
Ilya Sutskever is highly regarded in the AI industry. During his tenure at OpenAI, he made significant contributions to groundbreaking AI developments, including the technical foundation for ChatGPT’s creation.
Safe Superintelligence also boasts a team of esteemed AI experts, including former OpenAI researcher Daniel Levy and ex-Apple AI project leader Daniel Gross. The company has secured previous funding from prominent investors such as Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, and DST Global.
Notably, Safe Superintelligence is not yet generating revenue and does not plan to commercialize AI products in the immediate future.
