In an exciting new development, Meta announced on Tuesday its plan to let users connect their WhatsApp account to their Accounts Center – an all-in-one hub for managing interactive experiences across Facebook, Instagram, and Meta Quest accounts.
This strategic move allows users to cross-post their WhatsApp Status to Instagram and Facebook Stories, eliminating repetitive postings across platforms. Furthermore, the integration enhances the ‘Single Sign-On’ feature, permitting users to log in to multiple apps using their Facebook account details.
However, this connection isn’t automatic; users have to choose to link their WhatsApp account to the Accounts Center, which by default is turned off. Meta emphasizes that despite this integration, your WhatsApp calls and messages will continue to be end-to-end encrypted for maintained privacy.
First introduced in 2020, Accounts Center, accessible via Meta’s app settings, was developed to streamline user experiences across the company’s services. In its ongoing pursuit to provide an integrated ecosystem, more features are in the pipeline for the Accounts Center, including managing avatars, Meta AI stickers, and Imagine Me creations.
While the WhatsApp connectivity is being introduced globally, it might take a while before reaching all users. Once available, users can access the integration option via WhatsApp settings or when attempting to perform cross-account actions, such as sharing a Status to other Meta apps.
