Podcast Setup: Inside Jody Avirgan’s “Summer Album / Winter Album” Studio

Podcasting is accessible to all, with countless equipment and software options to fit various needs. Jody Avirgan, co-host of “Summer Album / Winter Album,” shares his unique podcasting setup.

Avirgan’s home studio is a cozy basement apartment kitchen, acoustically enhanced with curtains, soft furnishings, and sound panels. His main microphone is a warm-sounding Electro-Voice RE27N/D, while he uses an AT2020-USB+ for remote recordings.

The FocusRite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface provides control and connects his microphone to the computer. For backup, Avirgan records locally using Hindenburg, saving to Dropbox.

Avirgan prefers Rode NTH-100 headphones for their comfort and durability. He uses Descript for both audio and video editing, praising its versatility and focus on podcasting needs.

For his visual setup, Avirgan utilizes a recommended webcam but prefers the MacBook camera. His background features books, a George Mikan photo, and artificial plants from Ikea.
