Sonos’ journey took a challenging turn last year upon the release of their major software update. Unfortunately, the update was plagued with bugs and stripped away some long-established features, negatively impacting the platform, which is renowned for its product reliability.
Recovery Attempts Amid Declining Sales
In an attempt to salvage their reputation, Sonos poured considerable resources into fixing their software and reintroducing previously removed features. Nevertheless, the damage was already done. Delayed products and disappointing sales of newly launched items like the Sonos Ace headphones and Arc Ultra soundbar were the result.
Layoffs and Falling Revenue
The troubled times led to the elimination of about 100 roles at Sonos, about 6% of its workforce, and a revenue slide of 16% in 2024’s Q4.
