OpenAI CEO Rejects Elon Musk’s Acquisition Proposal

OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, has criticized Elon Musk’s recent bid to acquire the non-profit organization. Altman claims that Musk’s offer, valued at $97.4 billion, is an attempt to impede OpenAI’s progress.

Altman acknowledged Musk as a competitor, as Musk has founded the AI company xAI. However, Altman suggested that Musk’s actions stem from insecurity, stating, “I don’t think he’s a happy person.”

Altman promptly rejected Musk’s proposal in a public statement, and it is likely that OpenAI’s board of directors will formally deny the bid. However, board member Larry Summers has indicated that they have not received any official communication regarding the offer.
