Missouri’s ‘Trans Concern’ Webpage Suspended After Script Overload

A webpage from the Missouri government seeking tips on “troublings practices” at gender-affirming care clinics has been temporarily taken down following a massive influx of irrelevant submissions, including the script from ‘Bee Movie’.

The ‘Transgender Center Concerns’ form was set up by the Attorney General’s Office in late March. However, instead of useful information, the page was filled with a variety of random content – everything from rambling anecdotes to the complete ‘Bee Movie’ script. As a result, the government had to remove this tip line.

Digital activists, primarily from TikTok and Twitter, are being held responsible for the unexpected shutdown. Madeline Sieren, the press secretary for the Missouri Attorney General, noted that these activists were allegedly attempting to halt the exposure of potentially questionable practices within such clinics.

The Attorney General, Andrew Bailey, had originally established the web form to allow parents to raise concerns about the care their children received at these clinics. This move was part of his broader initiative that imposed rigorous limitations on access to gender-affirming healthcare services.

Bailey’s efforts were met with severe criticism from LGBTQ advocacy organization, PROMO. The group accused him of propagating harmful and misleading information through the emergency rule.

The tip line, already subject to digital trolling, reported continued disruptions even after adding CAPTCHA to deter spamming. Activists are known to have previously spammed similar platforms, often seen as restrictive or as invasion of personal freedom, with assorted content as a form of digital protest.
