Microsoft is forging ahead in AI development with its newly established internal division, CoreAI – Platform and Tools. The new division aims to hasten the progress of AI software and infrastructure within the corporation.
Leading the AI Charge
Reportedly, the former VP and global engineering head at Meta, Jay Parikh, is to head CoreAI. Parikh, who has also served as CEO of cloud security start-up Lacework, will directly report to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. He will manage Microsoft’s AI platform and respective developer teams, according to Bloomberg.
A Synergistic Mix
CoreAI is essentially a strategic amalgamation of Microsoft’s prevailing Dev Div and AI platform teams. Some members from the Office of the CTO division are also encompassed in CoreAI. The Verge notes that CoreAI aims to restructure Microsoft’s developer teams, putting a spotlight on AI as a top priority.
A Model-Forward Strategy
In an in-house memo posted on the company’s blog, Nadella highlighted the significance of “model-forward” applications for Microsoft’s roadmap. He noted that these applications will redefine all application categories in the upcoming year.
