Renowned for their cutting-edge API services, India-based tech giant, Postman, is diving into artificial intelligence (AI). They recently announced the integration of an AI agent builder along with their API platform. This latest addition, combined with a user-friendly visual editor, aims to facilitate non-tech developers towards building and trialling AI agents.
Why AI? Postman’s bold stride towards AI technology comes as no surprise. APIs play a vital role in crafting these agents that interact with a diverse selection of services. Upon request from clients and observing the rising trend in AI agent schemes, it became clear to Postman that APIs are a pivotal aspect of the whole process.
Subsequently, Postman concentrated on accommodating all things APIs, catering to an increasing cohort of non-developer users who need to create straightforward API-centric applications. With the merger of no-code, AI, and agents, the emergence and utility of AI technology were put to the test.
The company’s existing API hub, contributed to by over 18,000 entities, now allows users to formulate AI agents that can communicate with these APIs. New testing tools have been integrated into the service, thus ensuring the functionality of these agents. The service further enables the use of Postman Flows, a visual development environment aimed at building these agents in their interactions with APIs.
As of now, the core purpose of Postman’s AI agents is facilitating backend operations. Though front-end operations aren’t the focus at this stage, it’s expected they will be considered in the future. Postman believes it can stand out from its competitors, primarily large cloud providers, by ensuring a superior developer experience.
Pricing is a detail that will be contoured gradually as the company continues to assess the value that these agents bring.
