Improved Sticker Search and Video Features Enhance Telegram’s User Experience

Telegram, the popular messaging app that reached profitability in 2022, has rolled out a significant update to its platform, introducing enhanced sticker search and video consumption features.

The AI-powered sticker search, previously limited to 40,000 stickers, has received a major expansion, now allowing users to search millions of stickers from across the platform using natural language queries. For example, searching “Thinking monkey” or “Dog eyebrow raise” yields a wide array of relevant results.

Telegram has also introduced improvements to its video consumption features. Users can now share video links with specific timestamps, a functionality similar to that of YouTube. Additionally, they have the option to select a specific frame as the video’s cover photo, resembling thumbnails on other platforms. The video editor now includes the ability to add text, stickers, and emojis to the cover.

Furthermore, Telegram now supports resuming video progress, allowing users to continue watching clips from where they left off.

While Telegram hosts channels that share original content, it has also been criticized for hosting pirated videos. Last year, the platform removed 15 million groups and channels, not all of which were related to piracy.

In 2023, Telegram focused on promoting its channels feature, adding discovery features like suggesting similar channels when users join one. The same concept is now being applied to bots, with a “Similar Bots” tab appearing on bot service profiles, suggesting related bots.
