Google’s Veo 2 Video Generation Model Priced at 50 Cents Per Second

Google has recently revealed pricing details for their latest video-generating AI model, Veo 2. This model, unveiled in December, will incur a cost of 50 cents per second of video generated. That translates to $30 per minute or $1,800 per hour.

Google DeepMind researcher Jon Barron put this pricing into perspective by comparing it to the Marvel movie “Avengers: Endgame.” With a reported production budget of $356 million, “Avengers: Endgame” cost an estimated $32,000 per second to produce.

It’s important to note that users may not always use every second of Veo-generated video they pay for. Additionally, Veo 2 is currently not capable of creating three-hour epics like “Avengers: Endgame.” Google has emphasized Veo 2’s ability to generate clips that are at least two minutes long.

Another notable comparison is OpenAI’s Sora video generation model. Sora is available to subscribers of the ChatGPT Pro subscription, which costs $200 per month.
