“The European Commission (EC) has demanded insights from Elon Musk’s X concerning the underlying algorithms which influence content suggestions for users. This request aims to ensure compliance with the Digital Services Act’s (DSA) regulations that oversee online platforms operating within Europe.
This request, unrelated to forthcoming German federal elections claims the Financial Times, is an expansion of an existing exploration into X’s operations since 2023. In addition to previous inquires, the EC has ordered X to deliver “in-house documentation” about the configuration of its system algorithms and subsequent modifications. Alongside this, a “preservation request” has been issued obligating X to record any pending alterations until the end of 2025.
Furthermore, the EC has also demanded permission to access select commercial APIs and tech interfaces of X.”
