Bloomberg divulged that, while China would favor TikTok remaining under ByteDance’s control, officials are not oblivious to the idea of selling to Musk, harmonizing with the incoming administration of president Donald Trump. The intended maneuver would result in Musk’s X bracing TikTok US, subsequently drawing in TikTok’s 170 million American user base and potential ad revenue billions deep.
The narrative, however, has been branded “pure fiction” by a TikTok representative in a statement shared with Variety.
