De-Googled Pixel Tablet Now Available through Murena

Murena, a leading French privacy-focused tech company, has expanded its offering to include a de-Googled version of the latest Pixel Tablet. This release caters to individuals seeking a secure and customizable tablet experience.

The Murena Pixel Tablet runs the /e/OS open-source operating system, replacing Google’s Android. This change eliminates the default suite of Google apps and services, providing users with a privacy-centric Android experience.

“Our Pixel Tablet empowers users with the performance and versatility they expect, while minimizing data tracking, enhancing security, and protecting personal information from Google’s data collection practices,” said Murena.

The tablet features a spacious 10.95-inch LCD display, 128GB of internal storage, and 8GB of RAM. It is available for purchase on Murena’s website at €539 (approximately $549 in the U.S.).

Instead of the Google Play Store, the de-Googled Pixel Tablet utilizes App Lounge, an app marketplace offering anonymous downloads of apps available on Google Play and F-Droid. However, accessing paid apps requires a Google account login.

Recognizing the challenges of recreating a full app marketplace without Google integration, Murena has developed privacy-friendly alternatives for popular apps like Google Drive and Office 365. The Pixel Tablet offers Workspace, a file storage, backup, and office suite with 1GB of free storage and premium plans for additional capacity.
