“ChatGPT Dominates: Majority of Users Are Males, Says Latest Report”

OpenAI’s ChatGPT has scaled new heights, leading the surge in consumer expenditure on AI applications. ChatGPT, the reigning champion in the AI application arena, has significantly contributed to the striking increase of 274% in global spending, culminating at $1.42 billion in 2024 according to Appfigures’ report.

Apple and Google also bask in the success of these apps, retaining about 30% of the revenue from in-app purchases. As per Appfigures’ report, AI apps now boast a whopping market value of $2 billion.

Surprisingly, the majority of ChatGPT’s 353 million downloads originate from users under 25. It seems young tech-enthusiasts aren’t shying away from exploring this cutting-edge platform. Concurrently, older users, ranging between 50-64 years, form the second largest user demographic, comprising 20.2% of total users.

Nevertheless, a striking gender disparity surfaces among ChatGPT users. Men outweigh women significantly, comprising an astounding 84.5% of the total user base across all age groups. It is speculated that women’s concerns about AI’s potential risks and its impacts may play a role in this trend.

Although ChatGPT continues to hoard the majority market share in AI app spending, upcoming competitors like DeepSeek are rapidly gaining popularity, presenting potential future challenges. While DeepSeek has recently surpassed OpenAI in App Store rankings, the free, open-source Chinese AI app will have to maintain its momentum to become a viable competitor.
