Brave Enhances User Search Experience with Rerank
Brave Search announced a novel functionality, Rerank, on Thursday. The innovative update empowers users to customize search results by either upvoting or downvoting specific domains.
Exploring Rerank’s Capabilities
The feature would be universally accessible and prominently positioned on the search results page. Users may promote or discard a domain as per preference by clicking the thumbs-up or thumbs-down symbol. This distinctive personalization feature would reorganize search priorities based on user inputs, giving more weightage to upvoted sites and discarding downvoted ones.
AI Integration and User-Driven Search Customization
Apart from Rerank, Brave confirmed its AI-powered answers feature would consider user modifications to source related search results. The integration aims to counteract conventional search engine practices, offering a more tailored experience.
Brave’s Search VP, Arjaldo Karaj, emphasized, “Rerank places users at the helm of their search experience. No hidden personalization through unknown algorithms.”
Brave’s Ongoing Commitment to Personalized Experience
In their continued mission to enhance personalization, Brave rolled out the Goggles feature in 2022. It included predefined filters such as “News from the left,” “News from the right,” and “Tech blogs”. Goggles, powered by developers, is expandable through a catalogue.
Rerank, a brainchild of Goggles, aims to simplify personalization instead of replacing it. It could prove particularly useful for users wishing to refer to certain sites for specific topics.
With more than 38 million daily and over 1.2 billion monthly queries, Brave’s search product is significantly impacting the tech industry.
