Blue Origin Trims Workforce Following Historic New Glenn Launch

One month after the successful debut launch of its New Glenn heavy-lift rocket, Blue Origin, founded by Jeff Bezos, has implemented a 10% workforce reduction, affecting approximately 1,000 employees out of a total of over 10,000.

According to Reuters, CEO Dave Limp communicated the company’s strategic reassessment during a company-wide meeting, acknowledging the need for course correction to achieve desired growth and success. Despite the recent milestone with the New Glenn launch, Limp expressed concerns about the company’s pace and efficiency.

Limp joined Blue Origin in 2023, bringing with him over a decade’s worth of experience leading Amazon’s devices and services division. His appointment followed a period of setbacks and delays in the New Glenn program, while competitors like SpaceX gained momentum in commercial space ventures.
