Apple Strengthens Presence in India with Dedicated Store App Launch

Apple has increased its retail footprint in India by introducing its standalone Apple Store app, catering to the burgeoning consumer demand. The app, free to download from the Indian App Store, facilitates direct product purchases and offers bespoke shopping suggestions.

This move from Apple is indicative of its steadily growing hold on the Indian market. This effort began in 2023 with the inauguration of brick-and-mortar stores in Mumbai and Delhi, aside from its online store since 2020. Apple has future expansion plans for four additional stores in tech capitals like Bengaluru and Pune.

Users can fine-tune their Macs via the app, adding improved chips, extra storage, or more memory, features long sought by the Indian clientele. They can also organize product delivery or pick-up in-store.

Product tabs, individualized recommendations, and after-sales support, such as setup sessions with Apple gurus, are other key features of the app. Customers can attend free training sessions in physical Apple stores, explore trade-ins, financing options, and even personalize devices like AirPods and iPads with free engravings in eight languages.

India’s position as the world’s second-largest smartphone market has not gone unnoticed by Apple, leading to a gradual yet significant increase in its manufacturing bases here, away from China. Apple started iPhone assembly in India in 2017, and in partnership with Foxconn and the local conglomerate Tata, production has been on the rise.
