The addition of the ‘Air’ to the iPhone line aligns with Apple’s successful thin models for MacBooks and iPads. The move towards a skinnier model seems more engaging than the iPhone Plus or mini variations.
Apple’s Thinnest Smartphone with In-House Modem
The iPhone 17 Air is suspected to include Apple’s inaugural in-house modem – making its first appearance in the upcoming iPhone SE this spring. The proposed model is touted as the slimmest Apple smartphone, doing away with two millimeters compared to current iPhone designs. It’s a step closer to Apple’s rumoured foldable iPhone and iPad, slated for 2026 or later.
Anticipated Apple releases of 2025
Among Gurman’s 2025 Apple product anticipated launches is a smart home hub, though a new version of the mixed reality headset, the Vision Pro, doesn’t make the list.
