In a new development, Amazon has announced an increase in the subscription rates for its Music Unlimited service. The cost of the Amazon Music Unlimited Individual plan for Prime members jumps from $9.99 per month to $10.99.
Non-prime Subscriber Impacts
Non-Prime members have also been affected, seeing their subscriptions rise from $10.99 to $11.99 every month. The Family plan offered by Amazon Music Unlimited has also been revised from $16.99 to $19.99 monthly.
New Pricing Structure
This new structure aligns Amazon’s service closer to Spotify, following its Premium plan hike to $11.99 made in June last year. Both Amazon and Spotify’s individual plans exceed YouTube Music’s and Apple Music’s price tags, set at $10.99. Prime members, though, bask in a one-dollar discount perk.
Amazon Music justifies the change, stating it allows for a diverse content range and feature addition. This currently only impacts new subscribers since the changes were put into effect recently. Meanwhile, current subscribers will notice the mark-up on the next monthly renewal billing, due on or post March 5, 2025.
The previous price increase for the Amazon Music Unlimited streaming subscription was made in August 2023. The reasoning then mirrored the current hike – an enhancement of content and features for its subscribers.
