Amazon, following in the footsteps of Meta, is reducing its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategies according to Bloomberg. This change was communicated through an internal memo signaling the discontinuation of outdated initiatives.
The memo prepared by Candi Castleberry, a senior official in human resources, indicated a preference for proven strategies overseen centrally rather than by individual groups, and promoting a more genuinely inclusive culture.
This shift aligns Amazon with other tech firms like Meta and Microsoft that are seemingly retreating from their DEI commitments. Interestingly, the company has subtly transitioned its corporate webpage to present less emphasis on DEI and removed a 2021 post that emphasized their focus on DEI.
This adjustment prefaces the anticipated hostility towards DEI initiatives by the upcoming presidential administration, Bloomberg intimates.
