OpenAI’s AI Agent Operator Expands Global Reach

OpenAI’s AI agent, Operator, has extended its services to various countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. Currently, Operator is exclusive to ChatGPT Pro subscribers who pay a monthly fee of $200.

Operator’s capabilities encompass a wide range of tasks, enabling users to make bookings, reservations, file expenses, and conduct e-commerce transactions. It operates through a dedicated web page, but OpenAI intends to integrate Operator into all ChatGPT clients. Unlike competitors, Operator provides users with full control over the browser window, allowing them to intervene as needed.

In the realm of AI agents, OpenAI faces competition from Google, Anthropic, and Rabbit. However, Google’s offering remains in waitlist mode, Anthropic’s agent is only accessible through an API, and Rabbit’s action model is restricted to users of its specific device. As a result, Operator stands out as a convenient and accessible AI assistant for a diverse global audience.
