Samsung’s latest reveal, Galaxy S25, is set to be the first smartphone to embrace Adobe’s Content Credentials standard. This recent development unfolded at Samsung Unpacked event where it was announced that the Galaxy S25 lineup will incorporate the distinctive feature designed to identify AI-created imagery.
Becoming an official member of the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), Samsung’s new step can be likened to a “digital content nutrition label.” This provides significant insights such as the genesis of the content, its editing journey, and any engagement with generative AI technology throughout the process.
The introduction of this standard has come at a critical time when concerns about the capabilities of AI in fostering fake news and misinformation are surging. Alongside images, this technology will extend to video, audio, and document formats.
Adobe’s Content Authenticity tool, currently in the beta phase, will allow the detection of Content Credentials in images.
Samsung’s venture has shared support from giants in media, social media, AI, and hardware within the C2PA. Some of the key players encompass Google, Intel, Microsoft, OpenAI, Amazon, BBC, Meta, Sony, Publicis, and Truepic.
The Galaxy S25 series is now available for preorder, with shipping commencing from February 7.
